Our day started w me driving to Newark (where our hotel is). And I'm thinking "Me drive on 95??? Scary pants!" However the traffic was so dead it was an easy ride. So we get to the hotel and we leave the car to park. So Aaron starts telling me about how we should've taken pics of the car before we gave it to them in case they mess it up. And I think Fantastic! I'll think about this for three days now! ( and I actually haven't til I typed it right now.
Anyways... Our hotel let us check in nice and early, which was awesome.
So we get settled and do the 10 min walk to Newark penn station. A nice 20 min ride into the city--yes please!!! We have a nice smooth ride, come out of the backside of Madison square garden and NOISE! Just people and cars and horns. I can honestly say I've never experienced anything like that! First stop was Empire State Building-- or I should say it was supposed to be. So we start heading north and run into Times Square. Not the worst mistake bc it was on the "list".
Sidebar: as you probably figured the list is stuff we wanted see. Or as Aaron calls it- "Stuff Dana wants to see!" However, I would like to defend myself here. There were things on there we both wanted to see...and some "extras"!
Anyways, so we see Times Square and high step it back to the Empire State Building. Ok. Let me be honest. I get that we are in New York. And I didnt mind paying $25 to go up the eps. However, that ticket better sure as heck get me to the tippy top. But oh no. It only gets you to floor 86. If you want to go to floor 102 that would be another $17!! I'm sorry what??? Because I'm sure you're not making a kagillion dollars off our $25 from the zillion of people here. Tricky tricky esb!
On the plus side. They did have a brewery in the bottom. We will take the sampler please. (Which was delicious!)
Now, for those who watched Sex and the City you will understand. I wanted to see Carrie Bradshaw's stoop. They say she lives on 73rd, but this is not the stoop/building they used bc well... The address they give on the show does NOT have a stoop. The building they use is 66 perry st in Greenwich. So like a trooper Aaron heads there with me. And you wouldn't believe it but we were not the only ones there to take pics! See me below being quite unfashionable (unlike SJP and wonderful Carrie-- but it was raining just to defend myself!) by the stoop.
So now we head to the World Trade Center. We just saw the building and took pics. We did not go in the "museum". Aaron didnt want to and I think it would be too sad. So we headed to Wall St. As we were walking there some awesome old man said to me: "Nice legs!" Ha! What a nice old Jewish man!
Thanks to hurricane sandy Ellis island and the statue were not doable. But have no fear we walked to battery park in the rain to snap what lousy pictures we could!
Now soaked to the bone and have walked probably 6 miles for the day we headed back to the hotel. It was a great day with a lot crossed off "The list!"

LOVE that you finally got to see Carrie's stoop! You are not unfashionable...compared to SJP everyone on the planet is unfashionable because, duh, she's Carrie Bradshaw! Bummer it was raining but sounds like you guys were total troopers!! Also LOVE that you made a list...I am a list Nazi, for real! haha. I'm sure Aaron is secretly grateful for your lists (Tim always is when say...he forgets his razor/deo/undershirts...you get the point)... XO
