Philly day 1 6/16

Just a side note: this could be called The Day Dana has a Girly Breakdown.

So after Aaron did 800 snoozes on Sunday morning, we finally head towards Philly. We, again, are staying out of downtown. This was probably a mistake for this one. Public transit to get to the city took a ridiculous amt of time for no reason and it was expensive. But I'll get back to that.

So we get to the hotel at 1 and as we get close to the hotel I'm already having my mini-meltdown (a melt down that girls understand while the men just look at you and giggle). I'm thinking by the time we get down we won't get to do anything and blah, blah, blah. Of course I was wrong, but eh-- and we will get back to that later.

Aaron goes in and the hotel will not let us check in early! Why?!??? So now I'm upset bc we are 18 miles put of downtown and sitting in a hotel parking lot. By now I'm thrilled! We decide we would try our luck at the casino behind our hotel. Yea that cost us $60-- though The Mummy slot machine was pretty fun.

It's now 2:30 and in 90 minutes have paid the state of Pennsylvania with our gambling ways. The hotel does let is check in now, which made me happy.

Aaron just decides to drive downtown bc the bus take 60 minute to get there. We drove in 15 (on 95. And for those who know 95 know that road SUCKS!) there was no beer drinking so I was ok w him driving on 95 (I know the moms' first thought were OMG driving downtown? But they are drinkers!) we get down there  and it takes about 10 to find parking!

Finally, we are off. And since it is about 3:45 we decide to at least go see the liberty bell bc it's FREE! My type of place. We go quickly through and take some pics of the bell. It is very nicely organized the way only 1 or 2 people go up at a time. It's not a bum rush and people are polite-- shocking.

We then take off to the Reading Terminal Market. Ummmm want one. It was  awesome. So many shops. If I lived there, we would def be hitting that up for all meat, seafood and produce needs. Oh yes and cheese and chocolate. Which we tried chocolate covered bacon with a line of peanut butter. But don't get too excited. The chocolate ran the show-- not much bacon taste happening.

After we proceeded to go to Chinatown. Which smelt awful. Just awful! After about three blocks of seeing the same restaurants, gift shops and salons (not being sterotyper, but that's all there was!) we decided we had seen enough.

We started heading back to the car, and I decided to get my postcards now so I didn't have to lug them around Monday. After we headed back to the hotel-- where I got some more homework done and we put in one sweaty workout!

Now we are sitting in bumper to bumper 95 traffic trying to get back into downtown! Yay!!!
